Water Filters in a Water Purification System
There about 2,100 known water contaminants that threaten our health. There’ no a water filter that can remove all possible contaminants alone. Some are good at certain jobs, while others perform better when doing another kind of job. To ensure complete removal of contaminants water purification systems are used. A good water purification system uses a combination of several water filters based on different water purification technologies to guarantee water of a high quality.
The sequence of water filters in a water purification system is important as this is the way to optimize the filtration. The first stage is usually provided by prefilters. Prefilters purify feed water and remove dust, sediments, rust, and substances with large particles that can damage more sensitive water purification equipment later on. Carbon water filters, sediment water filters, water softeners can be used as prefilters. They remove chlorine, sediment/rust/dust, “hard” water correspondingly. After passing through a prefilter the water usually comes to a reverse osmosis water filter. It is the main part of most water purification systems as reverse osmosis water filter removes most of contaminants. But reverse osmosis water filters operate very slowly. Therefore a water tank can be used to collect purified water before it is sent to the next stage of a water purification system. Typically the next stage is a polishing system. Here trace levels of remaining contaminants are removed from already purified water. Polishing systems produce “ultrapure” water that is water of a highest quality. Polishing systems remove residual traces of contaminants. Water that comes to the polishing system must be partially purified. Otherwise the polishing systems can go out of order when ordinary tap water is used. A polishing systems is usually consists of an activated carbon water filter, deionization water filter, or any other water filter that separated the smallest particles. To make the water purification system better Ultrafiltration can be used at the final stage in the polishing system. The combination that involves water filters of different water purification technologies produce water of the highest quality: free from most contaminants, healthy and safe for people.  |
